This book consists of an outstanding collection of street portraits taken at the gathering point in the Harajuku section of Tokyo. The area is rich with teenage exhibitionists in extreme attire. Many of the fashions they wear can cost a small fortune in either yen or time spent designing them. While some of the young girl’s fashion are intended to shock and feature controversial variations of Nazi or Communist Uniforms, most of the dress style consists of combinations of Lolita, Gothic, Anime, dominatrix leather, rubber and spandex, Japanese school girls with painted faces, weird colored contact lenses and colored hair or wigs. Most of the colorful fashion models arrive with suitcases full of different outfits and/or kinky fashion statements. They are there primarily to show off their creations to other teenager fashionistas. The fashions are what make this book so interesting.
